Don up before sunrise, soon after the tea was on one Trangia and the Porridge on the other. Sandwiches made (USA style, peanut butter, jam and cheese). I was gone by 8am, put down a quick 60 km with the tailwind by 11am, next 60km with lighter winds and tireder legs done by 14:00. It was getting hot too.
Found a camp spot in a table drain just past the “Derby 80km” sign which could double as the “Willare 50km” sign. Should be under 3h into Willare tomorrow.
The previously failed Camballin irrigation scheme has a new large sign on the road pointing to it so maybe Twiggy Forrest (local iron mining entrepeneur) reckons he has a chance to get it going again.
Lots of cattle trucks going full and empty both ways, also increasing number of feed trucks (baled hay, silage, bins) heading east. To where?
Native stingless sugar bag bees swarm you whenever you stop. Almost as irritating as flies.
