Frost on the water bag this morning although didn’t feel that cold.
A short ride downwind to the Tilmouth Well roadhouse and green campground. Billed as a ‘resort’ for a weekend away from Alice Springs if you want some luxury. Actually a big donga village behind a roadhouse. The luxury must be the green lawn in front of the dongas.
All roadhouse staff at Tilmouth Well RH were Irish, mostly backpackers but the store manager (18 years in job) also friendly Irish emigre decrying the reluctance of Aussies to work in the outback.
Big stack of 10″ steel pipe beside RH may be related to Tanami gas pipeline that we camped beside tomorrow. The gas pipeline apparently replaces three triple trailer diesel roadtrains a day to the Granites gold mine 300km up the Tanami Road.
Pulled in here for the night to consider shopping needs from Yuendumu tomorrow or early day after (107 km). Yuendumu is a closed town with no travellers accomodation but you can go in during the day to shop, get fuel.
