2020 TransAmerica. This is one of the classic long distance bicycle rides and I am about to start it.
But to cut the short story shorter: . coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and the often lethal disease Covid 19 that it causes happened, the chance of catching my death and closed national borders happened and the ride didn’t.
The route is based on the Adventure Cycling TransAmerica and other long distance cycling routes but will undoubtedly include a few variations of my own.
The TransAmerica routes have the advantages of being relatively safe and low stress. This generally means they avoid both the big highways and the big cities but do include the scenic bits that make the long hours in the saddle pass more easily.
