2020_b Gibb River Road

Four Gibbering Idiots will be riding the notorius Gibb River Road in the Kimberleys of northern Western Australia.

The Gibb River Road. This famously rough dirt road connecting isolated cattle stations and aboriginal communities is rapidly improving as it becomes a must on tourist’s bucket list of outback travel experiences. In 2020 the road is (reputed) to be in exceptionally good condition because of the small number of tourists due to the Covid 19 lockdowns. Here is hoping!

Follow us on https://share.garmin.com/stragglingstu . The tracker will start when we do from 21 July 2020.

This is compensation for my Trans USA epic being cancelled by Covid 19. Even the Gibb is only half a ride; we had planned to start in Alice Springs and get fit riding the 1000 km of the Tanami desert road to Halls Creek to get to Kununurra to start the Gibb ride but Covid 19 has closed the state borders between the Northern Territory and Western Australia. Three of us (Stu, Christine and Bruce) are survivors of the Borroloola Road on the Cairns to Darwin Ride in 2017. The fourth is Linda who is using the Gibb as training for her own solo epic from Adelaide up the Flinders Ranges to Wilpena Pound and around the western side of the Simpson Desert to Alice Springs next year. All of us are over 60 years old.
