Day -1 Ivanhoe Crossing and Lake argyle

The energetic ones (that is everyone else) shamed me into joining them on a morning ride out to the famed Ivanhoe Crossing. Only shin deep but tidal so full of saltwater crocodiles. Even the local fisherman was standing well back from the edge.

Ivanhoe Crossing. Tidal and lots of saltwater crocodiles so the fisherman stands well back from the edge. No swimming.

On the ride back I explained the history of the irrigated teak and sandalwood plantations established 1-2 decades ago when irrigated cropping was uneconomic before we stopped at the Ivanhoe Cafe for a mango shake and a chocolate cake. Yummy!

In the afternoon, all except Bruce joined the bus for the 75 km drive out to the irrigation dam of Lake Argyle, seeing the relocated Argyle Station Durack family homestead on the way. Bruce took the afternoon speedboat cruise up the Ord River which was a great trip according to him.
