Day 19 No riding for me while the girls ride to Willare 54 km

The girls set off and rode the 54 kms to Willare Roadhouse on the Fitzroy River.

I meanwhile set off looking for a bus to Broome (next run on Saturday, today was Thursday) so tried riding to Willare to ride to Broome.

Bad idea, I got 8 kms out, just past the turnoff to the Derby Prison where the pain in my leg made it obvious that I wasn’t going further. A very nice Derby prison guard saw me pulled up on the far side of the prison turnoff and made a special deviation to make sure I was OK. Thanks, the kindness in doing that was wonderful. So I turned around and slowly tootled back to Derby, arriving about midday.

That night I took up Peter and Helen’s kind offer to stay with them (the CWA hostel was booked out), they even put on a trip out to the port with a wine and cheese picnic. (My partner Robyn had been house mates with Helen thirty years earlier in Perth).
