Day 27 TT 49 km not bad considering 3h layover at security gate at The Granites goldmine for lunch and a rest and wash. Left carrying 30kg of water on my bike, Don had about 24 litres. With Don and my water combined we should make Bililuna without stopping a grey nomad for water. Famous last words.
Spoke to a 40 something dreadlocks aborigine at The Granites. He was on his way back from wife’s country at Kalkaringe to his country at Alice Springs (he is Kowrowa from around The Plenty Highway). Nice chatting about white/black interactions and ‘sharing country’ as well as looking after country. Again his mob is critical of the Walpiri west of Alice Springs and Yuendumu (said the Walpiri are always after more money).
Towel bath in toilet basin at truckies rest at The Granites mine security gate (run down facilities) and on.
Slow, sore and tired from effect of yesterday’s 70km of sand and today’s sand and heavy load made the last 10km hard. Road currently pretty good with some dust holes.
Saw dingo running away from our camp as I rode in, may have been checking what Don was up to then saw me an ran way. No dingo calls so far tonight.
