Day 35 Tanami Tootle from Wolffe Creek Crater back on to Tanami Road 38km

Seems a short day but the effort getting into the Crater yesterday really knocked both of us down. Feeling better but still sore and weak today. Much easier run out than in, with wind behind us and knowledge that some bits are just not worth the energy to try riding through. Walk the bike through and take your time.

My second horizontal dismount for the ride today. Walked a few hundred metres of the 300,000yo Crater rim left by 50000t bollide, didn’t see shatter cones in rocks, didn’t walk the 3.4km Crater rim due to lack of energy and time.

After 29km ride out then made only 12km on the Tanami Road; corrugated for whole 12km so draining too. Camped opposite Ruby Plains Station gate with sign saying collecting bush tucker is OK, coming for a killer or to light fires is “fuck off, not welcome”

Made fireplace from termite mounds to reduce fire risk.
