Day 30 Tanami Tootle past the WA border 47km

Very little at border, NT “Welcome” with warnings about access permits, alcohol and firearms

WA side with 2 broken “Welcome to WA” signs including a five year old warning to observe covid quarantine (apparently police from Bililuna or Balgo would drive 100km out here to check quarantine was being observed).

At the border the beautiful NT formed road became a dusty hole on the WA side – reverse of coming into Docker River on Great Central Road. NT road today generally a lot better than yesterday. Hope the WA road gets better tomorrow or will be real hard work 84km first to Balgo t/o. Uncertain where Coyote gold mine (closed) is.

Don got 6L of water from a caravan.

Temps have been up to 31C yesterday, 33C today. Garmin says similar weather tomorrow but then cooling back to mid 20’s.

I am quite exhausted and dehydrated, drinking slowly to correct that. Low blood pressure kept me lying down in camp a lot this afternoon.

Welcom to the Northern Territory, be aware of firearms laws
Welcome to Western Australia. Observe covid quarantine
Unofficial WA border that lines up with GPS location but not with official border signs?
My badly dehydrated leg – drinking lots of water over 24 hours filled it back up again
