DAY 31 18 JULY ROBINSON RIVER TO 45 KM FROM BORROLOOLA
Up and into it again.
When leaving Robinson River we passed a couple who had camped near us the night before. While pulling up to chat as they walked back to their camp, I fell into a bulldust hole. So deep and sharp -edged that the bike stayed standing perfectly upright as I stepped off it! Believe it or not!
The next believe it or not was that around lunchtime yet another ute / camper went past. No problem. Then it stopped, a young lady got out and asked if someone had lost a pair of glasses at Surprise Creek. Blow me down. My glasses. The tourists I had flagged down and asked if they would mind having a look hadn’t found the glasses but had told other campers at Hells Gate about my request to find my glasses. I wouldn’t be surprised if the proprietor at Hells Gate RH was involved as well asking travellers to have a look. Thanks John Hayes. Anyway the young lady and partner had taken the time to pull up at the grader turn around I had described and nearly drove over the glasses almost exactly where I thought they would be. Upshot, two days later I have the glasses back. Thanks everyone.
The effects of the previous days were still being felt and I could only get 60 kms before calling for camp. Christine found a seldom used track heading to a waterhole about 7km into the bush
We went about 200m in to get away from the road and set up camp.
