DAY 64 20 AUGUST 20 PAST HUMPTY DOO AND THE SPECIAL CAMPSITE AT COOLINGA

Up reasonably early in the morning to compete for breakfast room in the camp kitchen (taken over by two Swiss families who were winding up their Australian desert trip, nice trip but be a bit more considerate of other campers please).

Out on the road I headed up Finn Road rather than play with the trucks on the Stuart Highway. Soon I was being overtaken by bunches of lycra louts riding in the Darwin Gran Fondo. They were riding like idiots, one yelled at me carrying 50 kgs of gear and water for being too slow, another went onto the gravel shoulder to pass me on the left. Get an idea guys.

Then it was back onto the Stuart Highway, past the Humpty Doo turnoff (nothing there according to Brian and Christine) and into camp at Coolalinga. The camp manager had given Christine and Brian the best green grassed area in the camp so I put my tent up next to theirs. Not long later they turned up. Dinner was in camp that night.
