DAY 14 1 JULY NORMANTON TO KARUMBA

DAY 14 1 JULY NORMANTON TO KARUMBA

Brian approaches Karumba. Much smaller and less well serviced town than expected given its value as a fishing port.

Slept well on a bed of leaves then off to Karumba.  Occasionally a carload of charity riders would toot us as they headed back to Cairns after the festivities ending the charity run. Got hotter during the day but not excessive and a reasonable tailwind.  However i bonked early on so got to 3.5 km from Karumba and had to hang over the handlebars for ten minutes before catching the others at the tourist office.

Recommended to go to a caravan park back from Karumba Point so got in about 4pm.

Didn’t even have to leave the CP for dinner as there was a free fish BBQ (byo salad) in the campgrounds.  Not bad blue salmon fried. Then beddybyes.
