DAY 13 30 JUNE BLACK BULL TO NORMANTON

DAY 13 BLACK BULL TO NORMANTON

Hot. But perfectly flat. Bruce was querying his gps because it said that we were continually at 4-6 m elevation. Turned out it was right and we were on a huge flood plain for 50 odd kms.

B, B and C claim to have seen a crocodile tail enter the water at the Leichhardt Creek bridge. I heard the splash.

Very warm for the last 24km to Normanton.

It beat me and i had to lie under a tree cooling down with Bruce watching over me. I eventually go moving but still hot. Had a bit of a spit and another meditation over the handle bars at 10 km to go. Finally got the run into Normanton past the 25 MW solar pv farm under construction near the rubbish tip (on fire) and the 3 m fibreglass barramundi to town.

A Coke and popsicle at a cafe while cooling-off then check in at caravan park opposite the Purple Pub.

Clean up and over to the pub for an excellent grilled barramundi slab.
