Day 9 25 July Karijini NP HQ and Dales Gorge

Day 9 25/7/2018 8:28:15 AM After a trip to the visitor centre (very nice modern building) we headed off for a day at Dales Gorge with a 10km ride each way.

Bruce really got carried away with his geology here. A history of the formation of the banded ironstones, pointing out the bands of asbestos fibres in the layers of ironstone, swimming in the pools and walking from Fern Pool through the paperbark trees to Circular Pool.

At Circular Pool we met by happy accident Dr Neil Pettit who I worked with in Dwellingup thirty years ago & Dr Pauline Grierson were treating their field ecology class from UWA to a swim before packing up and heading back to Perth. Nice to meet them again.
