Day 8 24 july 2018 Kalamina gorge and the back road to dales gorge

Karijini Eco Resort to Dales Gorge via Kalimina Falls. A relaxed start and then off on the dirt road linking the Karijini gorges. The road wasn’t bad but the corrugations and loose dust and rocks weren’t good either.

Bruce insisted the 5km  ride in to Kalamina Falls would be worth it. It was but was still a slog, loose, dusty and steep. At the gorge the ranger Stu met us as we walked down into the gorge and asked who had the Wayward touring bike. Blow me down, he knew what it was! Stu had recently ridden the same model bike 3000 km along the Chilean Andes! And he was no sylph. Go Stu!

Bruce and I enjoyed the gorge and even had a swim. Some visitors on a bus tour gave us their leftover sandwiches and juice drinks.

Then it was back on the track and a moderately fast downwind run  to the overflow camp just past the Karijini visitor centre. The ranger said that as we were keen enough to ride bikes there we didn’t have to pay.
