LEJOG DAY 33 KINLOCHBERVIE TO DURNESS 37 km, 442 m

So short! But Scotland is so amazingly photogenic that we were stopping every half kilometre for photos. Magnificent scenery.

Also stopping every hundred metres to let camper vans and the odd truck pass or overtake. That “Western 500” road route would be almost at a standstill in peak summer season. Too many vans, too little road.

Great tailwind all day except for the 500 m of 1:7 climbing out of Kinlochbervie first thing. A headwind at the top of a steep hill is not fun.

Cold and windy in Durness so rode 1.6km out to the chocolate factory (!) for chocolate and a ham and cheese croissant to warm up. Then some phaffing around involving riding up steep short slopes into the wind to the wrong place before finding our hostel. All good, we all have bottom bunks in an 8 bed bunkroom. G’night
