LEJOG DAY 30 INVERNESS TO PORTMAHOMACK

Interesting sleeping arrangements again but in a nice out of town BnB. A day of light winds and rain, gentle slopes, and generally warmish temperatures (12-14C) providing you were out of the wind. So said we were freezing at Cromarty – Christine’s face was going blue, I was fumbling my coffee cup and Hillary wouldn’t leave the ferry cabin until the bikes were ready to go off the boat, John threatened to put on some warmer pants.

A mermaid on the beach at Balintore complemented the two local maidens turning up at the shops in their pyjamas at 2 in the afternoon.

The hills of the Black Isle didn’t look that big from Nairn yesterday but we seemed to climb gently for a long way today.

Having trouble finding accomodation in Kinlochbervie on the west coast for night after tomorrow. We’ll see.
